Cancer Sucks.

There really is no other way to describe it and, unfortunately, I don’t believe there is such a thing as a "cancer-free" life. If you don’t already, you will, in your lifetime, know someone who has been deeply affected by the disease. They will have either battled the disease themselves or, like me, have faced the diagnosis of a loved one. My mother was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer in May 2005, and after a courageous and hard-fought battle, on February 28th this disease claimed her life.

After a particularly dramatic episode of Grey's Anatomy, and one too many cocktails, I decided that it was my responsibility to do something. With the support of friends willing to contribute time, money, and effort, The Pink Agenda was born.

The Pink Agenda (TPA) is an organization of young professionals committed to raising money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the country's most effective and efficient and breast cancer research and direct care service organizations. We hope that our efforts will not only expedite the eventual discovery of a cure for the disease, but that the awareness we raise amongst those in our generation will result in earlier detection, as well as an understanding of where to go for support and resources if ever faced with a breast cancer diagnosis.

The Pink Agenda is committed not only to raising money for breast cancer research by soliciting donations from individual and corporate sponsors, but also to increasing young people’s awareness of the disease. By hosting events in cities such as New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, we’re bringing our message—and a whole lot of fun—to a new generation of philanthropists.

Because no other organizations have achieved their level of success in the fight against breast cancer, proceeds raised by The Pink Agenda will be donated to The BCRF and Komen for the Cure affiliated organizations. It is our belief that these are the two most efficient and effective breast cancer research and direct care service organizations in the world and that by supporting them we are fighting this disease in the most direct and aggressive manner possible.

Breast cancer has touched far too many lives already. Please join us as we engage today’s generation to find tomorrow’s cure. Together, we can make breast cancer history.

Sincerely,

sig
